By 2027, we are expecting to outreach pharmaceutical, biotechnological and related academia as well. This furtherance is expected to help in boosting of R&D of advanced innovative drugs and vaccines in the medical industry.
How much revenue did the company generate in India (for the biotech, pharma sector) during FY 25-26, and what growth is expected this year?
In FY 2025 - 2026, we have generated business revenue including exports of around $1.5-2 million which is around 15-20 per cent of the Indian market. The Indian pharmaceutical industry has the potential to skyrocket the GDP as India produces 20 per cent of generic medicines in the global pharma market. With cost effective manufacturing supported by advanced technologies and assured quality, the market is expected to grow manifold in the coming years. Hence, in the next two years we expect to grow to $4-5 million with our new innovations and ventures.
What are the company's future plans to strengthen its presence in the Indian biotech and pharma market?
With our latest launches, we are determined to expand our engagement with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, beyond our established presence in prestigious research institutes, academia, and defence laboratories.
What are the current trends and opportunities in India’s biosupplier market, and how is NutechAnalytical Technologies helping to shape this evolving landscape?
According to recent reports, the Indian pharmaceutical and biotech sectors are expected to expand to $120-130 billion and $300 billion by 2030, respectively. The biotech sector has significantly grown in the last couple of years emphasising its pivotal role in R&D across multiple businesses including healthcare, agriculture, aquaculture and industrial processing. Catering to this growing demand, the biotech and pharma industries are actively looking for advanced microwave synthesisers and digesters that can accelerate R&D, reduce wastage and time while ensuring precision and accuracy. In addition, the industries are considering sustainability and green chemistry. Indian laboratories and research centres are interested in indigenous scientific instruments that are beyond conventional methods and processing technology.
Nutech has developed indigenous portfolio of microwave synthesis, extraction, digestion and advanced microwave-UV-ultrasonic reactor systems for applications spanning pharmaceuticals, biological samples, natural products, nanomaterials and chemical research. The microwave synthesisers and digesters are designed to provide rapid, controlled and precise processing, with applications ranging from organic synthesis and extraction of bioactive compounds to digestion of biological, food, feed, drugs, geological, petrochemical, agricultural and pharmaceutical samples.
At Nutech, the systems are designed with the industry's movement towards faster R&D cycles and more sustainable laboratory practices. As all our instruments are completely fabricated from grade 316L stainless steel. We are currently concentrating on the GMP/GLP compliance which we are planning to introduce by the end of the year..
Our NuWav-Ultra, the microwave digestion system, certified to ISO, CE and EAC standards, is designed for high-temperature and high-pressure sample digestion and is applicable to biological, pharmaceutical, food, agricultural and environmental samples.
Going forward, we see considerable potential in pharmaceutical R&D, biotech research, nutraceuticals, nano-technology, natural-product research, academic institutions, contract research organisations and advanced materials. We are the first in the world to integrate microwave technology with other energy sources. The model NuWav-ProMaster, one of its kind, combines microwave, UV and ultrasonic capabilities with a pressurised reactor platform, creating a multifunctional workstation for synthesis, extraction and digestion.
As India moves from being a major consumer and manufacturer of pharmaceuticals towards becoming an increasingly research-driven global biotech hub, indigenous scientific instrumentation will play an important role in strengthening that ecosystem.
What are your views on the role of scientific instrumentation in supporting the next wave of biotechnology & pharma innovation in India?
India is at a crucial inflection point in its pharmaceutical, biotechnological and life science industries. It is steadily progressing towards becoming the hub of scientific innovations and developments from being only the “pharmacy of the world”. The transition is exciting and it requires talent as well as advanced high-end reliable scientific instruments. Microwave synthesisers and digesters are imperative in the ecosystem. They enable better reaction efficiency, precision, accelerate reactions and provide quality data. It can play a pivotal role in drug discovery, new formulations, vaccine research, genomic studies, across R&D centres and laboratories in India. Our NuWav-Uno, NuWav-Pro, NuWav-MDSS and NuWav-Ultra systems represent our commitment to indigenous innovation, combining precision, ease of use, robust SS316L construction and premium materials. With the NuWav-ProMaster, we have further advanced this proposition by offering both open-vessel and pressurised synthesis capabilities within a single instrument, giving researchers greater flexibility across applications. The next wave of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals in India will highly depend on innovating faster, generating precise and accurate samples, and translating research into scalable solutions. Advanced scientific instruments will be fundamental in achieving it.
Does India's biotech and pharma ambition require stronger research and analytical infrastructure, and how does it compare to the global scenario?
The country needs stronger research and development arenas. Besides, greater government support is expected to achieve its zenith in the biotech and pharma industries. India is blessed with a talented pool of scientists, researchers and scholars, hence, it is essential to equip them with advanced scientific instruments and technologies that can boost experimentation, improve efficiency and shorten R&D time. It will benefit the pharma and biotech companies to commercialise the innovative products faster in the market. Globally, the leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies are aggressively utilising advanced technologies, automation and smart scientific instrumentation to improve research outcomes. India needs to accelerate its adoption of such technologies while simultaneously developing solutions that understand and address the specific requirements of our own scientific and industrial ecosystem.
