Toshiba America Medical Systems has introduced new ultrasound devices, called the Aplio 300 and 500 Platinum Series respectively. This enhancement to the company's existing Aplio 300 and 500 systems expands the clinical utility of ultrasound, allowing providers to consolidate lines of care onto a single platform.

The Aplio Platinum series provides powerful clinical imaging tools for advanced visualisation, quantification and intervention. This includes BEAM, a new technique that improves needle visualisation during ultrasound-guided procedures. On the Aplio 500 Platinum, Shear Wave elastography is a new tool to non-invasively measure tissue stiffness of the liver and potentially reduce expensive biopsies, while Superb Micro-Vascular Imaging (SMI) can capture low-velocity blood flow without the need for contrast agents or more invasive modalities.

"We understand our customers' business and enhanced our premium radiology systems with new technologies and improved existing ones like Smart Fusion and Fly Thru. The Aplio Platinum Series offers our customers a patient-centric system that expands the clinical utility of ultrasound and provides a safer, less invasive and more cost-effective solution," said Mr Tomohiro Hasegawa, director, ultrasound business unit, Toshiba.
