Best Biotek plans to establish a biotech finishing school
Since its inception, Best Biotek has successfully trained over 3000 graduates, postgraduates and has guided a number of MPhil and PhD candidates in their research projects in various streams of biotechnology. Today it has emerged as a major corporate training center for the biotech industry.
Best Biotek Research Labs is an ISO 9001-2000 certified biotech training and research center. It was established in 2001 with an aim to meet the growing demands and needs of the biotech industry for professionally trained candidates. Over the years, Best Biotek has grown and has become a one-stop center for learning hands-on skills in biotech, bioinformatics and clinical research. It also offers placement assistance and counseling for careers including self employment and advanced studies in life sciences. Another salient feature of Best Biotek is that it provides customized corporate training covering all relevant topics from product development to commercialization, including statutory documentation for setting up biotech firms. The institute also conducts workshops, seminars and short-term programs in contemporary areas of biotechnology for corporate and academic participants.

Programs
Best Biotek's programs are categorized into basic level, diploma level, advanced diploma level and research programs. It also offers on-job training programs, proficiency programs and PhD and M.Phil programs in biotechnology and environmental sciences. The disciplines of training include clinical research, industrial microbiology, enzymology and protein purification, immunotechnology, molecular biology and genetic engineering, fermentation and down stream process, general biotechnology, plant tissue culture, DNA fingerprinting, agricultural biotechnology, higher end training RAPD analysis and HPLC and GLC training and agro bacterium mediated gene transfer.
The duration of proficiency courses is 10-15 days and the fees ranges from Rs 4,500-Rs 6,000. The fees for 15-day on-job training courses is Rs 3,000. The fees for courses in Applied Techniques (7-21 days) is in the range of Rs 7,000-Rs 18,000. The duration of Bioinformatics courses is anywhere between 30 days and a year, the fees for which can be anything between Rs 7,500-Rs 60,000. SAS Programming courses are offered at Rs 20,000 and Rs 35,000 for course durations of 30 days and 60 days respectively.
Best Biotek has an independent R&D, which has developed many products. Its consultancy profile includes product identification and development, protocol development, production and supply of kits for educational institutions, market research and feasibility reports and consultancy for setting up biotech labs, research institutes and colleges.
Best Biotek currently has two centers in Hyderabad and one in Nagpur. It plans to expand its network to 10 centers in India by the end of this year. Best Biotek will soon be relocating from its current 2,500 sft facility in Jayanagar in Bangalore to a 10,000 sft facility in Nagarbhavi, Bangalore. Best Biotek has an ambitious plan of establishing a biotech finishing school in the future.
