AIMED welcomes recommendations of task force on medical devices

Mr Rajiv Nath, forum coordinator, AIMED has welcomed the recommendations of the task force on medical devices released  by minister, Mr Anant Kumar.

Mr Nath said that the recommendations announced at this path breaking event will set the ball rolling to make India a powerhouse in manufacturing of medical devices and if implemented quickly, it will certainly be a milestone to help the country reduce its humungous import dependency in this sector.

He said that in particular Task Recommendation to reverse duty bias against domestic goods, recommendation to form a separate department for medical devices, and to have a separate legislation for medical device sector was of particular significance for the country as well this sector.

Mr Nath has thanked Mr Ananth Kumar, union minister for chemicals and fertilizer and Mr V Suburaj, secretary of the dept for this brilliant recommendations.

It may be noted that to realize the vision of PM Modi's vision of 'Make in India', department of chemicals and fertilizers had set up three task force, among which one was on 'Promotion of Domestic Production of High End Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Equipment'. The recommendation of this task force was released today by Shri Ananth Kumar.
