Aurobindo Pharma promoter escapes attempt on life

Hyderbad: Aurobindo Pharma Ltd's vice-chairman K Nityananda Reddy escaped an attempt on his life on Wednesday morning. A miscreant, armed with an AK-47 gun, confronted Mr. Reddy when he boarded his car after his morning walk at the KBR Park.

Media reports suggests that the miscreant allegedly tried to fire at Mr Reddy. Without succeeding, the attacker reportedly panicked and ran towards a building nearby. He left behind an AK 47 gun and the bag in which he had brought the rifle.

Founded in 1986 by Mr. P.V. Ramaprasad Reddy, Mr. K. Nityananda Reddy, Aurobindo Pharma is a major player in Semi-Synthetic Penicillins and it has a presence in key therapeutic segments such as neurosciences, cardiovascular, anti-retrovirals, anti-diabetics, gastroenterology and cephalosporins, among others.

Mr Reddy is its whole-time director and vice chairman and has been associated with the company as a promoter. He supervises the overall affairs of the company.

Aurobindo Pharma features among the top 10 companies in India in terms of consolidated revenues.
