American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), has announced the launch of a special initiative to collaborate with Indian healthcare agencies to improve infrastructure and awareness on head injury, trauma and hepatitis in the country.  Actor Mr Amitabh Bachchan has pledged to be the ambassador of AAPI's campaign.

"Our contribution is also in response to the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Indian diasporas to participate in the development of India. On the eve of the Pravasi Bhartiya Bivas, and to mark the 100th year of Gandhiji's return to India, the physician and healthcare community in the United States will this year focus on three key initiatives - trauma and brain injury, women's health, and women-led leadership. We thank Mr Amitabh Bachchan for his commitment to the cause of trauma and brain injury," said Ms Seema Jain, president of AAPI.

AAPI has also announced that its next Global Health Summit (GHS) would be held in January 2016 in Delhi focussing on two key themes - trauma and brain injury, and women-related issues.
