Set to diversify into reagents manufacturing

Along with customer support, Spinco is also planning to diversify into life sciences reagents manufacturing

Spinco Biotech reinforces its leadership in distribution business by clocking annual life sciences revenue of Rs 250.68 crore in FY 2009-10. The company focuses on providing enterprise-wide laboratory solutions from global technology leaders. Spinco functions under five strategic business units – life sciences, mass spectrometry, chromatography, lyo and lab products, and chemistry and consumables.

The year 2010 is a milestone year for Spinco, as it has crossed 10,000 Shimadzu HPLC installations in India. To commemorate this occasion, the company is inaugurating a 50,000 sq.ft. customer support center in Hyderabad. This facility will house state-of-the-art customer training center, demo/application labs, inventory stock center, and sales and technical support operations. High-end innovative mass spectrometry solutions are the new value-addition Spinco offers to its customers.

Spinco's life sciences business has witnessed extraordinary growth in last fiscal with the value- partnership of GE Healthcare Life Sciences for their entire research and imaging portfolio. Whereas in genomics, proteomics, cell-biology or drug discovery, Spinco offers both instrumentation and consumables from global leaders such as Affymetrix, GE, Molecular Devices, Shimadzu Biotech, USB, Aapptec, Wyatt, Golden Helix and XRAY-Biotique.

Spinco's lyo division provides turn-key freeze drying solutions to pharma and vaccine manufacturers enabling their exports to regulatory markets with stringent compliance needs. PAT/NIR and process homogenization solutions are also offered with on-site application support.

The company has warehouses in Chennai and Hyderabad to provide door delivery of complete instruments and consumables either duty paid or through customs-bonded warehousing. These facilities are ISO 9001 certified and offer complete column chemistry and molecular biology reagents/kits.

Spinco Genomics Lab in Chennai is equipped with complete Affymetrix microarray platform and other instrumentations. With an emphasis on customer support, Spinco enhanced its infrastructure with 28 offices and 350 employees. The company is also diversifying into life sciences reagents manufacturing later this year.
