Maintaining their autonomous character: DBT has requested the directors not to refer minor administrative issues to it
In a letter dated September 19, 2014 and signed by DBT's director-administration, the directors and executive directors of all the autonomous institutes under the department have been asked to relove the routine issues at their level.
Pointing to the routine administrative issues such as pay, fixation, leave encashment, etc being referred to it on regular basis, DBT has asked the respective administration officers of institutes to resolve these in consultation with the directors.
However, the letter also mentioned that in case there is a matter that requires to be addressed by the DBT, it must be accompanied by a note with reasons for doing so also clearly mentioned.
The move will surely ensure that the administrative capabilities of the insitutes which in the past have been depending on DBT for directions on even minor issues.
