Acharya Institute of Sciences is affiliated to Bangalore University, which has been given five star accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of University Grants Commission. The institution was established in the year 2001 and offers Bachelors and Masters Degree in biotechnology, genetics and microbiology.
BSc, (B,C,G), (G,B,B) and (M,B,G) are the courses offered. A new combination proposed for 2009-10 is computer science, biotechnology and biochemistry.
Students are acquainted with practical day-to-day clinical and analytical problems and issues through frequent seminars, workshops and study projects in their chosen field of work. Every student is required to present a seminar on an allotted topic, every semester. During the academic year, special lectures by eminent scientists are arranged for the benefit of the students. The colleges have extensive laboratory facilities in the campus with all the required state-of-the-art equipment and systems to enable students to conduct experiments scientifically. The laboratories also contain valuable specimens and samples to enable detailed study and analysis.
