The Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), New Delhi, is engaged in setting up a super computer facility in collaboration with HP aimed at undertaking complex life sciences research
With an objective of increasing the speed at which life science research is being done – IGIB, a constituent of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has signed an agreement to acquire Hewlett-Packard (HP)'s four-teraflop cluster platform supercomputer for conducting advance life sciences computational biology research.
"We are doing this in order to speed up the research
process. HP's cluster platform provides a scalable architecture that allows us
to complete large simulation experiments such as molecular interactions and
dynamics, virtual drug screening and protein folding, much more quickly, saving
a lot of time for us to do other complex things," Samir Brahmachari,
Director, IGIB, informed.
