Department of Biotechnology

Kakatiya University was established in 1976. The Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, has identified the departments of botany, chemistry and pharmacy under FIST, while the University Grants Commission is supporting the departments like chemistry, botany and pharmacy under its DRS and SAP.
   The MSc in biotechnology course was introduced in 2000, as an interdisciplinary subject on self-finance basis. The course has been developed into a separate department in 2004. Within a short span, the department developed its own building with two classrooms, computer lab, two culture rooms, a research lab, a seminar hall and a library. In view of the fast developments in this and its allied fields, the department is providing the latest equipment to train the students so that they can turn out to be good biotechnologists. So far three batches passed out from the department.
