US pressing for lax GM food safety testing: Suman Sahai

Gene Campaign, The German Church Development Service and the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, USA, have registered their protest with the US FDA against the new guidelines being proposed to test the safety of genetically engineered foods. According to Dr Suman Sahai of Gene Campaign "This is a nightmare for the developing countries where the regulatory system is weak and ineffective. Further, laxity with respect to food safety would enable companies to escape liability for their actions and not be accountable for contamination of the food supply."
