March 09, 2005 | Wednesday | News

Wockhardt Ltd has launched automatic insulin delivery devices and cartridges. While the pen device is priced at Rs 1,099, the cartridge will be sold at Rs 169. “It was only 18 months ago since we launched Wosulin, Asia's first recombinant insulin,â€? said Habil Khorakiwala, chairman, Wockhardt Ltd. “Wosulin made insulin more affordable and helped expand usage among Indian diabetics by 20 percent. We have now developed Wosulin cartridge at our Biotech Park, Aurangabad. Our cartridge and the pen will not only offer great convenience, but will be very affordable too. The patient has to just press an automatic plunger to deliver the insulin just under the skin. Since it is like a normal pen, it can be carried easily and used discreetly.â€?
