Novartis to expand Hyderabad research facility

Novartis is most likely to expand operations at its Hyderabad R&D centre. The pharma major currently operates a research and development centre along with data support and analytics from its Hyderabad facility.

The current footprint is about 90,000 square feet of laboratory space employing about 350 scientific researchers. The company will be expanding to 1,62,000 sft to establish its High Potent Formulation Development labs along with an Analytical Development Facility which will facilitate 150 more scientific researchers.

The issue recently came up for a discussion at the World Economic Forum. Hyderabad has already earned the reputation of being the life sciences capital of the country and establishment of pharma city would give a major push to the sector in the coming days.

It is expected that the expansion of the Novartis R&D Centre will significantly boost the development of Genome Valley.
