Bengaluru-based startup Niramai is all set to launch a new technology in the global market which is focused on diagnosing basic abnormailities within the human body.
"We plan to launch this technology for doing whole body scanning and finding out if there are abnormalities. It is not centered around cancer detection in particular, as such diagnosis requires further clinical validation. We will launch globally first, and then introduce the technology in India", said Dr Geetha Manjunath, Founder and CEO, Niramai.
Over the years, the company has bagged a global recognition after its innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-based, radiation-free breast cancer screening test received the prestigious CE mark approval in 2021. As a result, Niramai‘s Thermalytix solution can now be applied to all countries of Europe, as well as applicable to many Asian, African and Middle-East countries.
Later in 2022, Niramai emerged as the first Indian company to get a US FDA clearance for a medical device (SMILE-100 System) used for women's health. The SMILE-100 System is a breast thermography device that helps healthcare personnel to review, measure and analyse thermally significant indications in the breast region.
"The entire journey uptil now has been challenging, especially when you build a team, and reach a certain level. Gradually, a few members move out and then one has to re-build the team. Funding is another challenge. We are now in the process of closing another round of funding very soon", concluded Dr Geetha, during an exclusive chat with BioSpectrum.
