Siemens Healthineers to mentor researchers at Collaborative Lab, IISc

To bring NIMHANS later as partner to the Collaborative Laboratory

Siemens Healthineers that has set up Collaborative Laboratory for artificial intelligence (AI) in Precision Medicine at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru will provide mentorship to the team of 20 researchers who will be joining the lab in the next 3-4 months.

Dileep Mangsuli, Executive Director and Head, Siemens Healthineers Development Centre said that Siemens Healthineers will work closely with IISc researchers and with neurologists, radiologists and integrate the developed computational models into their regular clinical workflows.

To a question on data related to neurosciences, he said “We will bring in National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS), a premier mental health institution in Bengaluru later as a partner to this Collaborative Laboratory.” 

He further said “India is one of the four global innovation hubs for Siemens Healthineers, and we are committed to being catalysts in interdisciplinary research. This laboratory is a part of our CSR initiative. We take pride in giving back to the society and healthcare research is an important aspect of it.”

“Along with IISc, we aim to reshape the landscape of neuroscientific progress through the capabilities of AI, translating laboratory insights into intelligent solutions. We want to empower the broader clinical research community and be changemakers in the fight against world’s most life-threatening diseases,” said Mangsuli.

The company, that provides over 84 AI-supported product offerings worldwide and conduct more than 1,400 AI experiments every day, has more than 1,100 patent families related to AI.  Its Sherlock supercomputer has a computing capacity of more than 340 petaflops.
