Dr Jitendra Kumar steps out as BIRAC MD, joins IIT-H as R&D Advisor

Dr Jitendra Kumar, serving as the Managing Director (MD) of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), an institution set up by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, since June 2023, stepped out of his role recently. 

He will now be joining the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, as the R&D Advisor.

During his tenure at BIRAC, Dr Kumar relentlessly worked on his vision to facilitate scaling up of biotech startups. Dr Kumar laid emphasis on developing new policy norms for the regulatory hurdles being encountered by startups across the country, particularly those working on new emerging technologies.

Dr Kumar is a member of various Central and State Government Committees and advises on policy matters related to startups, innovation and entrepreneurship in Life Sciences.
