GIMSR appoints Dr Karthik Mikkineni as HOD, vascular surgery

Dr Mikkineni is an internationally recognised American Board of Surgery certified vascular surgeon

Dr Karthik Mikkineni, Assistant Professor of Surgery at Stanford University, has been initiated as the Head of Department (Vascular Surgery) at the GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR). Dr Mikkineni will be involved in advising, supervising, and directing consultation, treatments, procedures, and education in vascular surgery to patients and students/staff of GIMSR.

 

Dr Mikkineni is an internationally recognised American Board of Surgery certified vascular surgeon specialising in vascular disease. He is currently the Director of vascular surgery at AIG Hospitals, Mayo Clinic care Network Hospitals, India, as part of Global surgery.

 

He graduated as the Chief Resident of the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency Program from Temple and Drexel University, Pittsburgh and has completed his internship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center and his medical degree from Guntur Medical College. He has remarkable academic and clinical productivity involving new and dramatically improved techniques for diagnosing and treating vascular disease with grants from NIH and AHA. He serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Vascular Ultrasound. He held key leadership positions at Stanford University School of Medicine as the ranking member of the MD and fellowship admissions committees.

 

In his new role at GIMSR, he will be bringing his expertise in best practices, teaching, research and patient care to further the vision of GIMSR to provide the highest standards of clinical excellence, education and research.
