ICMR has announced appointments of directors to seven national institutes together. The selection of directors comes at a time when the government is pushing new strategies to develop solutions for various disease areas.

Mendu Vishnu Vardhana Rao, Sr. Grade Deputy Director & Biostatistician from National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad has been appointed as Director, National Institute of Medical Statistics (NIMS), New Delhi. R Hemalatha is named as the Director, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. Dr. Manisha Madkaikar has been appointed as the new Director, National Institute of Immunohaemotology, Mumbai.

Dr. Manoj V Murhekar has been named as the National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai and Shripad A Patel will take over as National JALMA Institute for Leprosy & other Mycobacterial Diseases, Agra.

Kamlesh Sarkar has been named as the Director of  National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad and Samiran Panda has been named as the National AIDS Research Institute, Pune.
