Sotera Health completes the sale of medical isotopes biz to BWXT

Nordion's increased focus on gamma technologies supports Sotera Health's company-wide commitment to Safeguarding Global Health™

Sotera Health LLC, the world's leading, fully integrated protector of global health, today announced the closing of the sale of the Medical Isotopes segment within its Nordion business to BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT).

 

With the sale, BWXT now owns Nordion's former medical isotopes business, including the radiochemical and contract manufacturing operations in Kanata, Ontario, and the isotope production facility in Vancouver, British Columbia, along with the transfer of approximately 150 employees.

 

Nordion retains ownership of its gamma technologies business as well as its state-of-the-art licenced facility in Kanata. Separately, the companies also signed a long-term lease agreement that will allow BWXT to continue operating from Nordion's Kanata facility.
