In an ambitious mission to combat mosquito-borne diseases, Ahmedabad-based startup Eco BioTraps is setting a groundbreaking target to protect 1.6 billion urban households and workplaces from dengue by the end of 2024. Over the past year, the company's revolutionary approach has not only proven successful but has also garnered significant attention and support.

Over the past 18 months, Eco BioTraps has actively worked in Dharavi, historically known for topping the charts in dengue and malaria cases. This year, Dharavi has notably been absent from the top 10 list of areas most affected by these diseases, showcasing the positive impact of Eco BioTraps' efforts.

In a recent collaboration with partner Rentokil PCI, Eco BioTraps were deployed in a defense establishment in Karnataka, resulting in a remarkable reduction in dengue cases from 50 to just 5 within a month. The strategic use of Eco BioTraps prevented a potential surge to 200 cases, and by the subsequent month, there were no new reported cases.

Similarly, the Kalyan-Dombivli municipal corporation, facing 40 dengue cases, sought assistance from Eco BioTraps and Rentokil PCI.  After the strategic placement of EBTs, the caseload was significantly reduced to only 3 cases, with only 5 new cases emerging, thereby preventing the predicted escalation to 200 cases.

Eco BioTraps has developed an innovative solution in mosquito control that focuses on "Breaking the Chain" to eliminate the mosquito problem at its root, addressing the issues of dengue, malaria, and other mosquito-borne diseases.

As Eco BioTraps prepares for significant expansion into international markets such as Malaysia, Nepal, Africa, and China, the company aims to amplify its impact on both environmental sustainability and public health.
