Mr Akash Bhavsar, managing director, SkyQuest Technology Group has been appointed as the member of UN ESCAP Business Advisory Council (EBAC). SkyQuest is an IP focused research and investment banking firm. As a global aggregator and accelerator of intellectual assets, they provide access to technologies, markets and finance across sectors; viz. agritech, cleantech, life sciences, nanotech and information and communication technology.

Consisting of executives and representatives of leading businesses in a wide range of industries and sectors from across the Asia-Pacific region, the ESCAP Business Advisory Council, or EBAC, was established at the first Asia-Pacific Business Forum (APBF) in Shanghai in 2004 and has provided substantive support and in-kind contribution to the APBF ever since.

Members of EBAC consist of business leaders, CEOs, representatives and experts from or operating in regional member and associate member countries/economies of ESCAP. EBAC members conform to and promote ethical and responsible business practices and fully subscribe to United Nations principles and norms. They strive towards full implementation of the principles of the global compact and towards global compact membership.

EBAC is presently working to establish a regional sustainable business network, consisting of the following two task forces: green business, and; social enterprises and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Since the adoption of the revised terms of reference, EBAC has held four sessions. Mr Narayana Murthy, chairman emeritus, Infosys and Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, CMD, Biocon are the members of EBAC from India.
