Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH) is driving Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU)'s next phase of growth and expansion with the launch of its super-specialised uro-nephrology hospital in Bhubaneswar, marking its entry into Odisha.
The launch builds on AHH's cumulative investment of Rs 650 crore in AINU, with a further Rs 100 crore committed towards the new facility and other key initiatives for the state. AHH aims to close this financial year with a network of 10 hospitals as part of AINU’s expansion.
AHH's previous investments have supported AINU's expansion and strengthened its clinical and technological capabilities nationwide. Key developments include adding 300 beds, expanding its Banjara Hills facility, and adding three new state-of-the-art robotic surgery programmes. The Bhubaneswar hospital marks AINU's 8th facility in India, after Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Siliguri, and Chennai; and extends its specialised kidney and urology services to patients across Odisha and neighbouring regions.
The expansion comes against the backdrop of a growing kidney disease burden in India. According to the ICMR–INDIAB study, published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research, impaired kidney function was identified in 3.2% of the nationally representative study population of 25,408 adults, with Odisha among the states reporting a prevalence of 6% or higher.
The new hospital brings together services across Nephrology, Urology, Uro-Oncology, Kidney Transplantation, Dialysis, Paediatric Urology, Andrology and Reconstructive Urology. Its infrastructure includes a 12-station haemodialysis unit, three dedicated operation theatres, a 100W Holmium laser, a 45W Thulium Fibre Laser, 3D laparoscopy, RIRS, PCNL, an in-house 32-slice CT scanner and video urodynamics. A dedicated urological robotic surgery platform is also scheduled to be launched soon. The facility will be supported by dedicated Nephrology and Urology OPDs and an in-house pharmacy.
