NIPER Rae Bareli inks technology transfer agreement with Lofty Lab to boost biotech sector

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Rae Bareli has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Confidentiality Non-Disclosure Agreement (CDA) and Technology Transfer Agreement with Lofty Laboratories, Hyderabad to enhance multi-directional cooperation in research, innovation and technology commercialisation.

The MoU is an important step towards strengthening Academia-Industry partnerships for advancing pharmaceutical and biotechnology research.

During the MoU signing, both the organisations agreed to adopt industry-tailored technology developed at NIPER Rae Bareli for commercialisation and development. The cooperation will also include joint participation in research and development activities in areas of mutual interest.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shubhi A. Saraf, Director, NIPER-Rae Bareli said that the MoU and the Technology Transfer Agreement will enable both the institutes to complement each other's research programmes in various ways, including collaborative participation in the activities of the Institute's Centre of Excellence in Innovative Drug Delivery Systems (CoE-NDDS). The innovative drug delivery system is the approach, formulation, technologies and systems to safely deliver a medicinal compound as required so as to achieve its desired therapeutic effects.

Head of the Center for Excellence in New Drug Delivery Systems, Prof. Nihar Ranjan pointed out that the commercialisation of the current technology will significantly reduce the cost of gel-staining agents, which are used extensively across the globe in biology-related research, especially those involving genes, cancer, and other nucleic acid-related diseases.
