NIScPR signs MoU with RIS to strengthen science, technology, innovation, policy and diplomacy

To strengthen cooperation in the fields of science, technology, innovation, policy, and diplomacy, the National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS).

This collaboration will be carried out through joint research, policy analysis, capacity building, and knowledge sharing. The partnership will promote work in the fields of science policy, communication, diplomacy, and traditional knowledge, as well as conduct joint projects, publications, policy dialogues, workshops, and outreach activities for inclusive and sustainable development.

Prof. Sachin Kumar Sharma, Director General, RIS, described science diplomacy as an important tool to build trust and address global challenges such as climate change, health and technology inequalities. He also stressed on the role of developing countries in shaping scientific governance. He outlined the initiatives of RIS including ITEC course, iGOT Karmayogi training, publication of Indian Science Diplomacy Forum and Global Partnership through South and IBSA Fellowship.

Dr Geetha Vani Rayasam, Director, CSIR-NIScPR described this partnership as a collaborative and mutually beneficial effort for developing countries, focusing on working groups and joint publications.
