As part of a major initiative to democratise access to advanced surgical technologies, Dr Sudhir Prem Srivastava, founding chairman of SSI group of companies, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to donate SSI Mantra Surgical Robotic System, India’s first and only indigenously developed robotic surgery system to the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR) in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka.
The MoU signing ceremony, held at the SS Innovations International Headquarters in Gurugram, was graced by the esteemed presence of Sadguru Madhusudan Sai.
This initiative aims to establish a world-class Robotic Cardiac Surgery Centre at SMSIMSR and develop the institution into South India’s premier training hub for robotic surgeries across multiple specialties, including adult and pediatric cardiac surgery, thoracic, general surgery, urology, gynecology, and head and neck surgery.
As part of the collaboration, Dr Srivasatava will support the first 100 robotic surgical procedures at SMSIMSR, cover the full maintenance costs of the SSI Mantra System for the next five years, and lead advanced training programs for cardiac and multi-specialty surgical teams at the institute, ensuring both immediate impact and long-term capacity building.
This partnership not only strengthens equitable access to cutting-edge surgical care but will also accelerate knowledge exchange, clinical training, and joint research initiatives to expand the reach and efficacy of robotic surgery in India.
