Advanced AI-enabled Acuson Origin ultrasound system allows for high-quality ultrasound images of the heart

Nadiad’s Dharmsinh Desai Memorial Methodist Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery has announced the installation of an advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled real-time cardiac view recognition ultrasound system at its centre.

With this, the hospital is now the first in western India to have the innovative AI-enabled Acuson Origin ultrasound system by Siemens Healthineers.

This technology reduces reliance on traditional Electrocardiogram (ECG) during echocardiography for patients, thereby enhancing patient experience and comfort.

Known for its state-of-the-art treatment facilities for patients with cardiac and vascular ailments, the hospital aims to provide world-class technology-driven solutions to their patients in and around the city.

Although cardiovascular disease (CVD) is recognised as a major public health issue in India, access to cardiovascular care remains constrained, as reflected by the low rates of detection and treatment.

Talking about the development, Dr Sanjeeth Peter, Director and Chief Cardiac Surgeon, DDMM Heart Institute, said, “With this cutting-edge technology, we are further empowering our team to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions with unparalleled precision and speed, ensuring the highest level of care for our patients."

"At Siemens Healthineers, we are focused on pioneering innovative healthcare solutions for everyone, everywhere, sustainably. With customer and patient centricity at our core, we've introduced Acuson Origin, a cutting-edge technology designed to empower patients and doctors in managing complex cardiovascular conditions. After this new addition, DDMM Heart Institute is enabling thousands of patients in and around Nadiad to access world-class cardiac care, improving their quality of life and transforming the landscape of cardiovascular treatment in Gujarat”, said Sanjay David - Head of Ultrasound - Zone ASEAN & India, Siemens Healthcare Private Limited

This industry-first technology enhances diagnostic precision and patient outcomes through advanced ultrasound features like 2D and 4D HeartAI, which enable automated contouring and quantification of all four cardiac chambers – even without an electrocardiogram (ECG).
