This National Cancer Awareness Day, let’s extend the reach of high-quality cancer infrastructure in India

Every year, India grapples with the emergence of approximately 2.25 million new cancer cases, a number that continues to rise. As against the growing incidence of cancer, India does not have requisite infrastructure to treat such patients. The country needs around 1800 radiation therapy machines, against which there are around 900 currently. In response to this pressing need, HOSMAC, Asia's foremost consultancy for hospital planning, management and designing, has taken centre stage by playing a pivotal role in the establishment of cutting-edge cancer infrastructure across the country.

HOSMAC has created more than 2000 cancer beds in India, collaborating with prestigious institutions such as Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai, National Cancer Institute in Nagpur, Apollo Cancer Centre in Bhubaneshwar, Vizag and Navi Mumbai, Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Jaipur, Balco Cancer Centre in Raipur, among others. The consultancy offers a comprehensive range of services, including Detailed Project Report (DPR), Medical Planning, Turnkey Design solutions which includes architecture, structural, MEP and interior design, Construction Management and Equipment Planning. Through its planning principles, HOSMAC ensures that design in cancer hospitals aligns with international standards, optimizing patient experience and treatment outcomes.

In addition, the consultancy has helped many multispecialty hospitals to establish dedicated cancer verticals within their premise, thereby widening the community access to high-quality cancer care across diverse geographies. Some of these institutions include Alexis Hospital in Nagpur, Narayana Hospital in Gurugram, Tricolour Hospital and Bhailal Amin General Hospital in Vadodara, Padamshri Hospital in Nanded, Mahavir Cancer Centre in Surat, NMIMS Hospital and Medical College in Shirpur and AIIMS-Medical College in Bibinagar, Telangana.

Dr. Vivek Desai, Founder and Managing Director of HOSMAC, stated, "Our mission at HOSMAC is to redefine cancer care in India. We are committed to empowering healthcare institutions with our expertise in innovative design and hospital operations to enhance cancer facilities. While India progresses in building a robust cancer infrastructure, we need to recognize the need for accessibility of such facilities in remote areas. With upcoming public-private partnerships and CSR support, we will hopefully be able to provide quality cancer care across the nation."

As we commemorate National Cancer Awareness Day, HOSMAC remains dedicated to elevating the healthcare landscape in India through forward-thinking solutions.
