DBT calls for research proposals under Indo-German project

Within the agreement of Indo-German cooperation in S&T of 1974, the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Federal Republic of Germany, has agreed for cooperative programme in biotechnology.

The purpose of the programme is to stimulate new collaborations, e.g. the preparation of joint projects under national funding programmes.

The programme facilitates bilateral cooperation in biotechnology between the scientific communities of India and Germany by way of joint research projects which will encompass bilateral workshops/ seminars and exchange visits of scientists.

The call for proposal will consider research projects in the area of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biology as well as Biotechnology Research on plant based medicines: Composition, Efficacy, Development, Safety, Testing and Production of Phytopharmaceuticals.

Research proposals on non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, osteoarthritis/ rheumatoid arthritis as well as of antiviral effects are of special interest (The areas suggested are indicative and not exclusive).

Scientists/ faculty members working in regular capacity in universities, national R&D laboratories/ institutes and private R&D institutes as well as researchers from the private sector can apply under this programme.

All received proposals will undergo a common peer review. Proposals selected for funding will be processed independently on both sides based on national rules. Tentative starting date is 01.02.2021. The project duration is up to 3 years.
