GE, Pall form new alliance to provide water solutions
GE Infrastructure, Water & Process Technologies, a unit of General
Electric Company, and Pall Corp. announced expansion of their strategic alliance
to bring innovative water technologies to the global marketplace. The companies
will combine their advanced membrane technologies and separation solutions to
cover more applications and markets, including desalination, water reuse and
municipal water.
Building upon a January 2004 agreement, which integrated GE's advanced design reverse osmosis and nanofiltration systems and services with Pall's high performance microfiltration and ultrafiltration technologies, the new alliance paves the way for collaboration on the development and sale of proprietary technologies.
Vivascience expands Vivapure product line
Vivascience, a subsidiary of Sartorius AG, has further expanded the Vivapure
sample preparation product line by introducing a new human albumin and IgG
depletion kit.
The Vivapure Anti-HSA/IgG Kit utilizes a combination of Anti-HSA antibody fragment and Protein G resin for specifically depleting albumin and IgG from human samples.
The kit provides over 95 percent removal of albumin and IgG from 20 µl of human serum along with low non-specific binding of potential serum biomarkers. Albumin and IgG depleted samples are recovered in a low salt buffer, facilitating downstream applications. The method is quick and claimed to be suitable for parallel processing.
With this kit, Vivascience expands its range of Vivapure sample preparation products-Vivapure Anti-HSA kit for albumin depletion, Vivapure Anti-HSA Resin for albumin depletion from serum volumes up to 400 µl, and Vivapure Ion Exchange spin columns for sample fractionation. The new Vivapure Kit further improves the resolution and detection of lower abundance sample proteins by electrophoresis, chromatography, and mass spectrometry.
Agilent, Rosetta integrate their flagship products
Agilent Technologies Inc. and Rosetta Biosoftware announced that their flagship
gene expression analysis products-Agilent's GeneSpring software and Rosetta
Resolver system-are being integrated through the use of the Rosetta Resolver
Software Development Kit (SDK). While the Rosetta Resolver system is a gene
expression data management and analysis system, GeneSpring software is a
visualization and analysis solution for displaying and analyzing large gene
expression datasets on a typical desktop computer.
BD acquires FFE Weber
Becton, Dickinson and Co.'s, Diagnostics group, has acquired the assets
and technologies of FFE Weber GmbH, a privately held company based in Munich,
Germany. The financial terms were not disclosed. FFE Weber, which specializes in
the separation and fractionation of complex proteins, has developed the
technology that enables a pre-analytical protein separation step that, when used
in combination with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), 2D-gel and
mass spectrometry-based protein analytical procedures, allows deeper
interrogation into the plasma proteome than is possible with current
methodologies.
Fingerprint attendance machine introduced in India
RS Barcoders, a company operating in the field of solutions on Barcode
and RFID, has introduced TAS-300 Fingerprint attendance machine from BIOBIO-
Taiwan in India. According to the company, the TAS-300 biometrics (Fingerprint)
attendance machine has a fingerprint matching speed of less than one second. Its
False Reject Rate (FRR) is less than one percent and False Acceptance Rate (FAR)
is 0.0001 percent and its optical sensor makes it possible to read sweaty
fingers also. TAS-300 can function with fingerprint only, fingerprint plus PIN
and PIN only. The starting price for the machine is Rs 39, 000 onwards.
