Aims at promoting innovation in the scientific community to improve healthcare solutions around the globe
Merck has opened a Healthcare R&D Excellence Centre facility in Bengaluru. The centre will contribute to the company’s Healthcare Research & Development (R&D) ambition of delivering the health care remedies of tomorrow, that can help treat patients with unmet medical needs around the world.
The R&D Excellence Centre aims at promoting innovation in the scientific community to improve healthcare solutions around the globe. Since 2020 the Excellence centre has onboarded around 300 employees and will continue its expansion over the next two years.
Suneela Thatte, VP and Head R&D Excellence Centre said, "The centre in Bengaluru aims to establish a one-team culture, delivering critical responsibilities in the drug development journey as well as developing a valuable talent pool. The R&D Excellence Centre strives to bring the best of global practices and local talent to enable the vision of enhanced patient outcomes."
Presently, the centre constitutes six different functions:
• Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA)
• Global Patient Safety (GPS)
• Global Development Operations (GDO)
• Strategy, Portfolio & Innovation (SP&I)
• Global Scientific Exchange and Communication (GSEC)
• Global Biostatistics Epidemiology and Medical Writing (GBEM)
