BioSpectrum looks at two companies where the chief scientific officers have gone off the beaten path to discover new platform technologies using the tools of biotechnology to treat known disorders.

♦   Dr Pradip Majumdar of Mitra Biotech and his team have come up with the Oncomics platform technology, which has the potential to revolutionize personalized cancer cure.

♦   At Transgene Biotek, Dr Vijayan has inspired breakthrough research in the area of therapeutic vaccine for HIV, apart from an R&D pipeline for humanized monoclonal antibodies and work on transdermal route of delivery for insulin.
