Bangalore is top biotech city
Biotech companies from the bioclusters in West and South generated revenues in excess of $1 billion in 2007-08. Maharashtra emerged as the leading state with $900 million in revenues, while Bangalore was the top biotech city contributing $550 million in sales during 2007-08. The biotech players in India are well spread across the country. And for the past few years, it has been observed that no single cluster has a monopoly on the revenues generated by companies headquartered in their respective regions. This trend was observed in 2007-08 too.
