Andhra Pradesh's has registered first dose COVID-19 vaccination for 96.86 per cent citizens aged 45 and above. 38.33 per cent of citizens aged between 18-45 have been administered with their first dose of vaccine.

Chief Minister (CM) of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review meeting with the health department of the state. At the meeting, officials appraised the Chief Minister on the state’s current statistics concerning COVID-19.

During the meeting, the CM instructed officials to take the necessary steps to incorporate PG courses in the newly constructed medical colleges, courses on public health administration are to be included as well, and ensure that training sessions should be provided and availed by Paramedics at said medical colleges. The CM instructed officials to ensure continuous monitoring and observation of public health, tests for water quality, air quality, and any other health-wise aspect should be available and take place at village clinics. The CM also directed officials to work on a strategy that can aid in boosting the infant mortality rate in the state.

Officials were instructed to strengthen the online database of citizens’ health records, with immediate updates on any health condition progression being documented and identification card details made available. All information on this online portal should be updated and available to doctors for a better prognosis. The CM also tasked officials with conducting detailed research on medications and new modalities to better battle COVID-19 in the next wave.  

220,964 oxygen concentrators and 27,311 D-type oxygen cylinders have been made available at hospitals by the state government of Andhra Pradesh. Oxygen pipeline works have successfully been carried out in 108 hospitals. By October 6 140 hospitals (that possess more than 50 beds each) will be equipped with oxygen generation plants set up by the government of Andhra Pradesh.
