Godavari Biorefineries secures European patent for novel anti-cancer pharmaceutical composition

Mumbai-based Godavari Biorefineries has secured a patent from the European Patent Office for its invention, "Pharmaceutical Composition and a Process to Prepare the Same." The patent covers a pharmaceutical composition that combines novel anti-cancer compounds with a solubilising agent, along with the process to prepare it.

The composition is designed to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of the active compounds, thereby improving their therapeutic potential. It has significant applications in the treatment of various cancers, including breast and prostate cancers, particularly through oral administration. The patent adds to Godavari Biorefineries’ oncology-focused intellectual property portfolio. 

“In oncology research, identifying a promising compound is only one part of the challenge. How that compound is formulated can determine how effectively it can be developed for therapeutic use. Our research has focused on improving the solubility and bioavailability of these compounds, and the grant of this European patent is an important recognition of that work,” said Dr Sangeeta Srivastava, Executive Director, Godavari Biorefineries.
