DSS Takara Bio India plans to deepen localisation and expand manufacturing capabilities

DSS Takara Bio India (DTI), the joint venture between DSS Imagetech India, and Takara Bio Inc., Japan, is celebrating 15 years of advancing life-science research, biotechnology and molecular diagnostics in India. Built on a shared India-Japan vision, DTI has grown from a technology access partnership into a national platform for world-class molecular biology manufacturing, scientific support and research-led innovation.

DTI runs a bioinformatics R&D function in India that supports Takara Bio’s global R&D programmes, demonstrating how India can contribute not only as a market and manufacturing base, but also as a scientific and computational research partner to global life-science innovation.

Looking ahead, DSS Takara Bio India plans to deepen localisation, expand manufacturing capabilities beyond the national capital, strengthen India-based R&D and support the next generation of work in genomics, cell and gene therapy, molecular diagnostics and translational research.

As India’s biotechnology sector accelerates, DTI aims to be a key enabler of the country’s scientific self-reliance and a bridge between Indian research excellence and global biotechnology innovation.

Headquartered in New Delhi, DTI operates an ISO-certified manufacturing facility and has nine regional offices across India. The company manufactures over 100 molecular biology reagents and enzymes in India and brings cutting-edge products from the Takara Bio group, including Takara, Clontech and Cellartis, as well as products from partner companies such as Macherey-Nagel, PromoCell and TriLink.
