The Sports Injury Centre (SIC) of Safdarjung Hospital under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava and Secretary, Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Hari Ranjan Rao.
This MoU is a step towards strengthening institutional cooperation to provide comprehensive sports medicine and healthcare services to sportspersons and support staff associated with Sports Authority of India.
This collaboration brings together the medical expertise of SIC and SAI's extensive athlete support network to create a comprehensive and coordinated model for athletes' healthcare. The purpose of this partnership is to improve the quality of sports injury prevention, screening, treatment, rehabilitation and sports science support, so that athletes can perform and maintain their best performance.
Apart from medical care, the MoU also envisages cooperation in the areas of sports science, medical education, capacity building, training and research. Together, the two institutes will work on research projects aimed at developing new treatment methods, improving injury prevention strategies, promoting evidence-based sports medicine practice, and promoting scientific innovation to improve the health and performance of athletes.
