Dr. K M Cherian receives Cardiac Surgery award

Defence Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman felicitated Dr. K M Cherian with the award.

Dr. K M Cherian was felicitated as "Pioneer in Cardiac Surgery and Modern Sushrutha of Cardiac Surgery" at the National Holistic Cardiology Conclave 2018 (NHCC2018), recently. Defence Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the meet and felicitated Dr.  K M Cherian with an award.

According to Dr. A. Mathavan Director - Cardiology, Velammal Hospital and Chairman of NHCC2018, “I personally feel that Dr. K.M. Cherian truly deserves the award as he has Pioneered Cardiac Surgery in India, He is a true stalwart of his profession and also his experience and interest on AYUSH, and such ayurvedic medicines proves that he is the Modern Sushruta of Cardiac Surgery”.

Receiving the award Dr. K M Cherian, Chairman and CEO of Frontier Lifeline Hospital said “I am humbled, honoured and happy to receive such prestigious award this evening from the honourable Defence Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman. This Conference proved as an effective forum for participants to exchange knowledge and ideas. It is an opportunity for individuals to exchange thoughts and meet outstanding professionals who demonstrated vision, compassion and dedication in their field. The conclave would also empower all the physicians to handle cardiac emergencies.”

Recently Dr. K.M. Cherian donated a statue of Sushruta seated over the inscribed plinth to the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in order to boost the students and trainees to perform better and achieve higher.  According to Dr. K M Cherian the main aim of gifting the statue to the college is to motivate the students and professionals to strive for greater heights and to contribute more actively towards promoting the profession’s intellectual, creative and ethical value systems and also to make them know the highest standards of excellence in Cardiac health care.

Dr. K. M. Cherian gave an excellent presentational talk on the origin and importance of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) Cardiac Surgery in India. He was asked to talk on the topic “PCI CAN NEVER CONQUER CABG“. As a speaker he made it possible to convince the participants and impressed upon them that PCI CAN NEVER CONQUER CABG.

The scientific programme has been meticulously planned to encompass a wide array of contemporary topics and to showcase the cutting edge technologies in the field of Clinical and Interventional Cardiology. More than 1000 cardiologist participated in the event.

This event also brought together the collaborative efforts from Cardiologists and General physicians from various National and International hospitals under one roof to disseminate the knowledge of new treatment strategies and technologies to participants.
