$100 million committed to health project in Uttarakhand

A $100-million loan has been approved by the World Bank for a health project in Uttarakhand for providing medical services in the state. The total cost of the project is $125 million out which $25 million will be funded by the state government. The financial agreement for Uttarakhand Health Systems Development Project was taken care by the International Development Assistance (IDA) of the World Bank.

The project would involve public- private partnership and the focus would be on entailing private sector for health services and on stewardship and system improvement. The clinical services would be provided for free or at nominal charges.

The project is intended to be completed by 2023.
