Mankind Pharma sets to foray into diagnostics

An investment of Rs. 305 crore has been earmarked by the company over the next four years.

A new venture called Pathkind Labs is being set up by New Delhi-based leading pharmaceutical company Mankind Pharma. The company currently has products in therapeutic area ranging from gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, dermal, and erectile dysfunction medications.

Considering the fact that there is a huge demand for quality diagnostics especially in rural areas, this new venture by Mankind will open a reference diagnostic laboratory in Gurgaon first. It will be followed by opening up of 11 large network labs, 20 smaller labs and 125 collection centres. Network labs will be opened in Lucknow, Varanasi, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Uttarakhand and Bihar.

An investment of Rs. 305 crore has been earmarked by the company over the next four years. The diagnostic venture of Mankind is being led by Sanjeev Vashishta, who was earlier heading SRL Diagnostics.

The company intends at providing quality diagnostic services at affordable prices. This will eventually help in reducing the overall health expenditure.
