The proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on agreement between India and Kyrgyzstan on cooperation in the field of agriculture and food related industry has been approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

This agreement covers various activities in the field of agriculture and allied sector including but not restricted to areas such as animal breeding, exchange in the field of research, veterinary medicine, plant growing, certification of seeds, introduction of different types of irrigation and establishing Indian Pilot Project and also information technology on efficient use of food processing and packaging technology. This MOU also promises cooperation in the field of protection of plant variety rights, food trade and horticulture, agricultural research and education etc.

It also provides for constitution of joint working group comprising of representatives from both countries which shall prepare plans of cooperation, provide solutions to the problems arising during the implementation of this Agreement and implementation of tasks determined by the parties. This agreement will remain in force for a period of five years after the date of signing.
