India to get more Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals

Central government in a decision taken by Board of Approval (BoA) has decided to set up new special economic zones (SEZs) in biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals. Developers such as Vaxenic India will be setting up biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals SEZs in Telangana.

SEZs are export hubs and they contribute about 23 per cent in country's total outbound shipments. According to the data by commerce ministry as on March 31, SEZs had attracted investments worth Rs 3.76 lakh crore and generated employment for 15.91 lakh people.
