Zimmer Biomet Holdings, a global leader in musculo-skeletal healthcare, announced a multi-year collaboration with the Indo-UK Institutes of Health (IUIH) that will increase the capacity of India's healthcare infrastructure.

The first phase of the collaboration involves the establishment of theZimmer Biomet Institute of India, a 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art medical training and education facility on the campus of King's College Hospital in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.

The Institute will help improve the delivery of and access to high-quality healthcare across India by training more than 1,000 orthopaedic surgeons annually on the latest orthopaedic procedures and the safe and effective use of Zimmer Biomet medical technologies.

IUIH, in partnership with UK's National Health Service (NHS) and its leading teaching institutions, plans to build 11 ‘Medicities' with Amaravati's King's College Hospital being the first, in major states across India.

Each Medicity campus will include a 1,000-bed hospital, a medical and nursing school, student and staff housing, hotel facilities, and a third-party-run training and education center focused on a designated medical specialty.
