Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a well known name in Indian healthcare system whose various projects are being funded actively by it.
While the earlier media reports had indicated that union home ministry was considering it, the ministry has denied media reports that suggested probe into the funding of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
"Reports in a section of media about Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation coming under the scanner of Home Ministry are not based on facts. There is no such action," Home Ministry spokesperson Mr KS Dhatwalia said.
Earlier some sections of the media had reported that the government is trying to probe the funding pattern of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
An unnamed official had mentioned that the exercise was different in intensity and scope from the ministry's recent actions against Greenpeace India, whose FCRA licence (which enables it to access foreign donations) has been suspended, and Ford Foundation, which has been placed under suspension.
A spokesperson from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has denied it saying they were unaware of the home ministry's move. "We have not been approached by the government of India."
