It is alleged that the unnamed employee handed a health fund official a pleasure trip costing more than $1,000 in turn for supporting the selling of the company's drug.

"Novartis can confirm that an employee was recently interviewed by authorities in Poland in connection with an ongoing enquiry," told Novartis to Reuters in an email statement.

Recently GlaxoSmithKline faced similar bribery charges in China leading to a whopping £297 million fine payment.

GSK also confessed that it is already up on investigating another of its allegations of bribery and corruption in the UAE.

Adding to the chain of bribery scandals rocking the pharmacuetical world, in another nefarious case this October, drug-maker Sanofi said that it is carrying out an internal investigations for allegations of bribing doctors in Middle East and parts of Africa for forcing doctors to prescribe its drugs between 2007 and 2012.
