Stage set for Bangalore Bio 2007
Bangalore Bio 2007, the country's flagship biotech event promoted by the Karnataka government and organized by the Karnataka Vision Group on Biotechnology, will be held from June 7-9, 2007 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC).
The Karnataka government IT, BT, science and technology secretary, MN Vidyashankar remarked, "This flagship biotech event effectively positions Karnataka on the global map. We are now in the 7th year of the event and we are glad to announce that the success ratio of the event shoots up year on year. The state government's vision of the biotech park will materialize soon and Karnataka will be efficiently poised to take advantage of global opportunities"
Bangalore Bio has emerged as a unique platform for the biotech fraternity to come together. The focal theme for this year is "Think BIG-Think Biotechnology, Think Innovation, Think Growth".
Dr Villoo Morawala Patell, founder and CEO, Avestha Gengraine Technologies, said, "The face of competition today is global, and the Bangalore Bio platform allows lasting contributions to advancing our global competitiveness, economic prosperity, and quality of life. This year we will see countries like Australia, Germany, France participating in the coveted event. This global recognition will pave way for the growth of Indian biotech companies and contribute to the vast knowledge exchange at this platform".
Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, chairperson of the Karnataka Vision Group on Biotechnology and CMD, Biocon, said, "In keeping with our BIG vision, Bangalore Bio 2007 has been planned on a grand scale with a strong focus on investment through partnering. The increasing pressure on western biotechnology companies to address affordable drug development and research in general has launched India into prominence as a preferred international research partner. India today provides both human capital and cost effective value addition to research efforts across the globe. Bio-manufacturing and clinical development are proving to be India's key strengths. The aim is to combine these with high value innovation through international partnerships in a win-win manner. Bangalore Bio 2007 therefore has an appropriate byline: Think Biotechnology, Think Innovation, Think Growth-it is about thinking BIG for the biotech sector in Bangalore, in India and across the world."
"The most exciting and up-to-date global technologies and business solutions will be the exceptional line-up at Bangalore Bio 2007. This event will present a 360 degree view of the biotechnology industry to help attendees fully understand today's global marketplace and build winning partnerships to benefit from the fast emerging opportunities. It will be an ideal forum for all the stake holders in the industry to meet and network," said Dr KK Narayanan, president, ABLE, and managing director, Metahelix.
The event this year includes a strong international participation from Australia, Holland, France, the UK, Spain, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Bavaria, Pennsylvania, and Singapore. Domestic participation from various state governments including Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh has been confirmed so far.
