Genechip arrays from Affymetrix
Affymetrix has launched the following state-of-the-art new generation genechip arrays: Affymetrix Genome-Wide Human SNP Array 6.0 is the most comprehensive next generation single genotyping array for genetic studies. It enables a completely new approach to the design of whole-genome association studies – a joint analysis of multiple, large sample sets using a whole-genome marker panel. This has culminated in a new paradigm for two-stage association studies.
GeneChip Human Gene 1.0 ST Array for gene expression analysis offers a simple and affordable solution for advanced gene-level expression profiling. Human Gene 1.0 ST Array offers a more complete and accurate coverage of total transcription of each genome locus than classical 3' based microarrays. This gene level array has 28,869 genes with better coverage.

Pall launches Minim II
Pall Life Sciences has launched new Minim II tangential flow filtration system, that performs feasibility and scale-up studies, with data-logging for ultra-low volumes, in a truly reliable and reproducible manner. As an operating system used in conjunction with cassettes, the benchtop Minim II TFF system can be used for cell and cell lysate clarification and concentration and diafiltration applications that are critical in developing biotech drug therapies. It can be operated at pressures typically associated with large-scale TFF processes, and offers a completely sanitary design necessary to comply with GMP standards for calibrated process instrumentation.
The Minim II system's touch-screen operation indicates flow path, pressures and temperatures. It can be used with up to three Minimate TFF membrane cassettes simultaneously for accurate and quick feasibility and scale-up studies. When using three cassettes of identical molecular weight cut-offs (MWCO), the unit can operate up to 150 square centimeters of effective membrane area, accelerating development times. Cassettes with different MWCOs can also be used simultaneously to select the most appropriate MWCO for a given application.
