PPP:On a mission to cure diseases

In this issue of BioSpectrum, the public-private partnership (PPP) case study series showcases the work of organizations that are on a mission to provide innovative and cost effective ways to tackle diseases in humans and animals. While one of the PPP initiatives promises to be a solution to the dreaded 'goat plague' in animals, another appears to be an effective way in which Kala Azar could be treated in humans. The other company featured in the series has utilized funding by the government to find home-grown solutions to rapid detection of nucleic acids.
